I’m Chris Higgins, I was born in Harrow and now live in the lovely Leamington Spa area!
I started listening to music when I was around 10, my first track I brought was Don’t Speak by No Doubt and obviously back then it was a hit! I grew up listening to a mixed genre of music from Celine Dion (we all did) to Space! I would say 2006 was it for me regarding indie music, there was Muse, U2 had released “How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb”, a year before. There was the Arctic Monkeys, Pigeon Detectives to name a few!
My first concert was 2007 where I saw the one and only Maximo Park! This year I’ve seen Coldplay, Muse and Stereophonics! Next on the list is Catfish and The Bottlemen and Tom O’Dell later this year.
I started to learn the guitar last year and due to that my interest in music maximised, I knew that with learning to play and seeing some epic bands was special but things come in threes, hence starting at Fresh! I first looked at the job online and thought “not a chance, they will laugh at me” but I just thought I’m gonna’ go for it, “what’s the worse that can happen?”It’s been amazing and I feel privileged to be part of such a cool team and our producers are awesome!
I feel this year is going to be a massive year for indie music since the Arctic Monkeys and The Killers first burst on to our screens. You’ve got Foals, Wolf Alice, Catfish and The Bottlemen and even a band called Phantogram popping up now – I love whacking on these awesome tracks by them and off course from the old timers as well like the Foo Fighters, OPM, Sum 41 and Blink 182.
I’m a massive Liverpool fan so I generally talk about football (very biased opinions of course!), talk about films, up coming concerts, new singles/albums and local events taking place!
