Mums the Word for Market’s Success

Mum2mum market was established by Cath Harrop in 2011 and offers a pop-up market for parents to sell their outgrown baby clothes and equipment to other families.

The award-winning mum2mum market is coming to Southam on Sunday 15 October (2.30-4.30pm) at the Grange Hall. As seen on BBC’s Dragon’s Den, mum2mum market was established by Cath Harrop in 2011 and offers a pop-up market for parents to sell their outgrown baby clothes and equipment to other families.

Cath said, “I found eBay frustrating as a buyer and expensive as a seller, and buying a pushchair that turned up filthy and broken was the final straw.  I was convinced there must be a better way and mum2mum market was born!”

Since then the business has grown considerably and Cath now has a network of local mums running their own mum2mum markets across the UK.

Amy To, who run the well-established South Warwickshire franchise, said: “As a mum myself, I already know how quickly children grow out of their clothes and move on to new toys.  There is a real demand for this type of shopping experience.  Buyers want to interact face-to-face with the sellers.

‘’Our sales are very popular and at our Warwick venue, a large queue usually forms half an hour before the door opens with eager buyers wanting to be first in line to get the best bargains.  We are excited to be expanding into Southam, spreading the word about the benefits of mum2mum market in the community and the surrounding villages.”

In today’s economic climate and with the rising costs of parenting, family budgets need to stretch that little bit further. With mum2mum market, everyone is a winner.  For stall holders this is a wonderful opportunity to declutter the house and take home 100% of the proceeds. While buyers can source great quality preloved goods at a fraction of the high street price.

Mum2mum market events are more than just nearly-new sales, their ethos is all about community involvement and support. The market is a godsend for cash-strapped families whilst also bringing other baby and children focused services together.  The events are essentially a one-stop shop where parents can grab a bargain, find out more about baby and children activity classes, and catch up with friends over a cuppa and cake.

Amy said, “Sing and Sign will be joining us at our Southam sale and parents can find more about enrolling their babies and toddlers into their classes.”

The market will take place at the Grange Hall, Southam, CV47 1QA on Sunday 15th October 2017 (2.30-4.30pm) and will return to Warwick at the Chase Meadow Community Centre, CV34 6BT on Sunday 19th November (2.30-4.30pm).  Entrance is £2, kids are free and free entry for all after 4pm.  Free goody bags will be given to the first 100 through the door.
